MEDINAT AL SULTAN QABOOS MEDICAL CENTRE

The Medinat Al Sultan Qaboos Medical Centre, “Medident”, a private health center, located in the shopping center in Medinat Al Sultan Qaboos, opened in September 1977.

At hte time it was the first European style clinic available in Oman. It started as a contractor clinic and soon grew to a multifunctional high quality health center covering medical and dental services.

Today, after 26 years of care, the staff consists of two doctors, a dentist, dental hygienist, physiotherapist, two registered nurses, two dental assistants and an administrator.

Besides of the mentioned fixed staff, we closely work together with a counselor and dietician.

The male doctor (Peter Gijselman, Dutch National, 25 years international experience) works full-time.

Apart from being a General Practitioner he is specialized in Occupational Health and Diving Medicine.

The female doctor (Sheela George, Indian National) works part-time.

She came highly recommended by the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital’s Department of Family and Community medicine where she had been working since 1989.

She gained a wide range of experience in General Practice and Paediatrics and has successfully completed a course in Child Health in the U.K. by the Royal College of Physicians.

The clinic also has a dentist (Peye Vlot, Dutch National, 27 years international experience) who is able to offer a comprehensive range of dentistry and a dental hygienist (Pat Hodge) for preventive oral hygiene.

As from June 2004 Renata Vrablova has joined Medident as physiotherapist. She has been working in Oman just over 10 years now and her special field of interest lays in postoperative orthopedic treatment.

We are supported by a dedicated staff of high quality U.K. trained nurses who assist us in all types of medical and dental matters. In particular immunizations, pre-employment medical screening (urine and blood testing, vision testing, ECG, lung function and hearing tests), health assessment and ante – and postnatal care.

Blood chemistry can be performed in our clinic. Other, more specialized investigations, are sent to reputable laboratories in Muscat and France.

We have good contacts and working relationships with specialists in the major Muscat based private clinics and can refer patients as the need arises.

Medident is open from 08.00 to 12.00 and 15.00 to 18.00 hours from Saturday to Wednesday and from 08.00 to 12.00 hours on Thursday. We are closed on Friday.
